The Olympia Stadion was build in order to host the games of 1916 which never took place because of the First World War. In 1933 on the same location the Olympia Stadion of the games of 1936 was build. 99 % OF THE KNOWN STRIKES OF THIS RARE OLYMPIC STADION POSTMARK ARE DATED OF THE OPENING CEREMONY ON THE 8.6.1913. THE ONES DATED DURING THE FIRST ACTUAL SPORT EVENTS ”OLYMPISCHE WETTKÄMPFE DES BERLINER SPORT-CLUBS” 13.6-29.6.1913 ARE MAJOR RARITIES (see the new Julius Bochmann catalog were the only other strike we know of is illustrated, reference included).
1913, ”BERLIN GRUNEWALD DEUTSCHES STADION 22.6.13” Sonderstempel hier mit EXTREM SELTENEN VERWENDUNGSDATUM während der ersten eigentlichen ”Olympischen Wettkämpfe des Berliner Sport-Clubs” (13.6-29.6.1913) im neuen Stadion auf Dt. Reich Privat-Postkarte 5 Pf Germania ”Deutsches Stadion Berlin-Grunewald” mit rs. Abbildung ”Tribünen, Schwimmbad und laufende Sportler”. Farb-Vignette oben links auf der Vorderseite ”Stadion-Weihe durch Se. Maj. Wilhelm II 8 Juni 1913” diese auch durch Maschinenstempel ”CHARLOTTENBURG 22.6.13” entwertet (in dieser Form einmalig). Der Absender vermerkt im seiner Mitteilung ”Elisabether Meisterschaft”. In sehr schöner tadelloser Erhaltung.
